Taking a quick break from work, I wanted to report on my visit this past Thursday, 1/10/08. Kim (Goering) Cutting came over in the afternoon to advise me on some interior decorating ideas (she gave me some great feedback) and we visited before and after. She is my sister's age and they were good friends in school.
So, here we are sitting drinking a cup of coffee . . . talking about her 2 little boys, her stay in Grand Junction, her plans for future, her sisters (she has 2) and just girl talk! Oh - how wonderful it was!!! Here was a glimpse into Janelle through the life of one of her friends. Just looking at her and watching her was a reminder of Janelle since they were friends. We hugged upon arrival and departing and, for me, it was like maybe this is what hugging Janelle would be like now. We talked about her labor & deliveries, church, running, so many different things friends would share. Her mom died of cancer a few years ago--so we both have death as a common thread (albeit one we would have gladly unraveled if we could).
Anyway, I just wanted to concretely express how great it was to have those few hours to just look at Kim and remember Janelle - it was wonderful!
